Kirk J. Simoneaux, P.E., Senior Mechanical Engineer
Kirk Simoneaux has extensive experience in mechanical building systems design and construction support for HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems. He earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from LSU in 1977 and became a licensed engineer in Louisiana in 1981.
He has been with AST since 1980 and became a partner in the firm in 1990. His experience includes detailed design for energy management systems and retrofits for total energy savings. In addition, Mr. Simoneaux has developed and produced specifications for various types of mechanical systems. His project management experience ranges from initial contact with the client through project completion and occupancy.
Mr. Simoneaux has also managed many mechanical systems retrofit projects which were implemented to replace outdated equipment with newer, more efficient technology. He has also successfully designed multiple central chilled water cooling plants and distribution systems. He is currently a member of the American Institute of Architects, American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers, Association of Energy Engineers, Consulting Engineers Council, and the Louisiana Engineering Society.
Christopher G. Tauzin, P.E., Senior Mechanical Engineer
Christopher Tauzin is highly experienced in design, specification and administration of complete mechanical systems in commercial buildings, industrial buildings, educational institutions, medical institutions and research facilities. He graduated from Nicholls State University with a B.S. in Engineering Technology and earned his Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1981 from LSU. Mr. Tauzin became a licensed engineer in 1986 and has been with AST for over 32 years, rising to partner in 1990. Mr. Tauzin also has experience with installation of residential and light commercial heating and air conditioning systems. He is currently a member of American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers, American Society of Plumbing Engineers, City of Baton Rouge-Parish of East Baton Rouge Plumbing Board, and Southern Building Code Congress International.
David Assaf, III, P.E., Advisory Consultant
Formerly a partner with the firm, Mr. Assaf has performed project design engineering and management for a multitude of projects in both the mechanical and electrical design fields. Although Mr. Assaf retired from the firm, he remains available for consultation due to his vast previous MEP experience. Mr. Assaf holds a dual license, both mechanical and electrical disciplines, a rarity in the field.
A. Kent Gasperecz, E.I., Senior Electrical Systems Designer
Mr. Gasperecz has experience in design and specification of electrical systems, specializing in power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, communications and special systems, including fire alarm, nurse call and intercom systems for large commercial, educational, medical and industrial facilities, as well as for residential and light commercial buildings. He earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from LSU in 1990. He has been a part of the AST team for over 25 years.
